Joey Sutton -
As a lover of history and a true collector, Joey Sutton has always been interested in how the past affects our world. His own worldview was expanded when, as a child, he had the privilege of attending Camp Androscoggin in Maine. For a kid from the deep south, that experience was profound. He still owns the baseball bat that was given to him as an award for the “Best Baseball Player.” That special keepsake evokes a fond memory, thus beginning his personal appreciation for how “items” can link you to the past. Whether it’s a signed guitar from a musician whose words touched your life or an autographed book that expanded your thoughts, collectibles can evoke positive memories.
As a passionate learner, Joey Sutton is constantly on a quest to understand himself and the world around him. Joey has a BA in history, and is a graduate of Tulane University’s School of Law. After his experience with Volunteers in Service to America, VISTA, his passion for adventure was ignited. Following a brief career in law, Sutton re-directed his talents to what he loves best, retail. As a third generation descendant of brothers Jack and Joe Sutton, Joey followed his family’s lineage and began his own retail endeavors in New Orleans.
In 1998, Sutton opened his first gallery, which featured celebrated autographs. His commitment was to provide collectors with one-of-a-kind pieces while offering the finest customer service with guaranteed authenticity. Whether historic memorabilia or signed items from the world of sports, entertainment or literature, Sutton created a highly unique gallery that reflected his many passions.
His newest venture, Vintage 329 located on historic Royal Street in the French Quarter, expands into a broader spectrum of merchandise, which include antique weaponry, rare books and maps. Vintage 329 is the exclusive representative for the History Channel’s Sean Rich’s private collection of antique arms and armor, coins and model ships. Joey Sutton is proud of his newest venture and looks forward to introducing collectors to his expanded gallery.
